Driftwood Necklace with Turquoise Inlay
I love finding natural materials from different walks. This piece of jewellery stemmed from a piece of driftwood (root) picked up from the beach in Whitstable Kent. It has been sitting on a shelf in my workshop for the best part of 4 years. I previously enjoyed it just being there but over the course of this summer, 2020, I've really studied it, turning it over and over. The shapes of it evoking a visual meditation. As the weeks have gone on the constituent parts of the root have emerged. I used crushed turquoise mixed with a resin and inlaid this into the crevices.
The resulting necklace is a complete one off.
